Item Flexible E-Content(World Conference on Educational Media and Technology, 2005-06-27) Doerksen, Trevor ; Cheetham, Anastasia ; Harrison, Laurie ; Huang, King ChungE-Content and learning objects promise reuse, accessibility, interoperability, scalability, and affordability. Issues such as intellectual property, decontextualization, technological barriers, standards and specifications not supporting reuse, and quality have prevented the realization of these principles. This paper argues that Flexible E-Content whereby intellectual property rights is articulated, and technical barriers removed through the use of tools, standards and specifications that support repurposing, can lead to reuse. Analyzing the results of several case studies the technical and intellectual property conditions for reuse are articulated and examples from industry are provided.Item TPS Quarterly(Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto, 1999-11) Education, Ontario Institute for Studies inThis month's TPS Quarterly discusses the following: notes from departmental Chair; description of the 1999 Values and Educational Leadership Conference; welcoming of two new faculty members: Reva Joshee and John Portelli; information on the TPS Admin Retreat 1999 and listing of administrative staff roles; notice of new books from Jim Ryan, Paul Begley and Harold Troper; listing of recent publications, activities, and upcoming events; list of visiting scholars.Item TPS Quarterly(Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto, 2000-02) Education, Ontario Institute for Studies inThis month's TPS Quarterly discusses the following: the appointment of professor Michael Skolnik as the first William G. Following the most tumultuous decade in Ontario educational history, and seven years after the release of the report of the Royal Commission on Learning, it seemed time to examine where Ontario education is now and where the province should be headed in the future. The Schools We Need provided an audit of current education policy in Ontario with suggestions on how to improve our schools. We argued in that report that the future for public schools in Ontario is at risk – student achievement has stalled, teachers and principals are demoralized, and the funding formula is not working.
