Abstract

The 150 MW Bayano Hydro Project is currently under construction 90 km east of Panama City, Panama. It comprises the largest construction project in Panama. When completed it will contribute 550 GWH of energy annually to the system, in a country where the demand for power is expected to double in the next five years to 1980. This paper describes the project, the equipment being installed, and some of the problems encountered.
