Abstract
This report reviews some recent advances in the literature and argues for a multidimensional conceptualisation of clusters. This can help us understand why some clusters continue grow and reproduce themselves while others stagnate and disappear over time. This is done by focussing on the knowledge creation effects of clusters instead of their material flows.
