Abstract
Description
Shand presents a variety of classroom activities which teach musical concepts and basic elements of music (grouped as pitch, timbre, dynamics, duration, rhythm, texture). These activities are ideal for beginning string students who cannot yet read musical notation. The fertile time before the student becomes preoccupied with reading symbols can be used to help the student focus on sound and on the instrument itself.
